SESSION 1
THE BASICS
General overview of digital video editing, and a discussion of the core concepts of Motion Design
Examination of the Adobe After Effects interface and workspaces
Using layers, compositions, and importing various types of assets from different sources into your project.
Animating assets using keyframes, graph editors, and other essential animation techniques.
SESSION 2
INTERMEDIATE TECHNIQUES
Planning out the concept / storyboard of the animation project.
Breakdown of individual components that come together to create the composition.
Creating custom assets / shapes using the After Effects shape creation toolset.
Advanced Masking and object isolation techniques.
Using basic Expressions to create secondary motion effects.
SESSION 3
PROJECT DAY
Completion of the animation project started in Session 2.
Opportunity to practice techniques learned in previous sessions and ask questions.
Exporting your project into a video format suitable for online publishing.

This workshop is particularly beneficial for individuals working in the field of graphic design / digital content creation. These days a graphic designer’s portfolio is considered incomplete if it does not include at least some aspect of 2D animation, and this workshop will set you on your way to mastering this skill.

The workshop is designed as a beginner’s guide to Adobe After Effects and assumes no prior knowledge of the software. It is open to working professionals, university students, high school students, or anyone that has an interest in learning the basics of 2D animation in Adobe After Effects.

Students will be provided with a detailed reference manual containing notes on every aspect of the tools covered during the various sessions. No need to take notes during the sessions or even bring a laptop. Just show up and learn!

Who is this workshop meant for?
Working professionals, university students, high school students, or anyone that has an interest in learning the basics of Adobe After Effects and motion design.
This workshop is designed as a beginner’s guide to Adobe After Effects and assumes no prior knowledge of the software. It is open to all students.
Even though it is not a requirement to register, individuals with a basic level of proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator will particularly benefit from this workshop.
Are there any special requirements to attend this workshop? Do I need to bring my own laptop / computer?
All computer / hardware requirements will be fulfilled by DEFT & LEED. We will provide each student with their own workstation that has all the necessary software pre-installed on it. The student will be able to use the workstation during each session of the workshop.
Will I be supplied with any support material upon completion of this workshop?
Upon completion of the full workshop, students will be provided with a detailed reference manual containing notes on every aspect of the tools covered during the various sessions. Therefore, it will not be necessary to take your own notes during the sessions.
The source files of all workshop projects will be supplied to you upon completion of the workshop.
Where will the workshop be held?
The workshop will be held at the Blue Bay Tower in Business Bay,Dubai:

Blue Bay Tower is a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk from the Business Bay Metro Station.Paid parking is available in the building parking lot (visitor’s section). A public parking lot is situated next to the building as well.
Should COVID 19 restrictions grow stricter in the future, we are prepared to use online-only platforms for training and will notify registrants through email prior to the commencement of any such training.
When and how do I pay?
Fees must be paid in full during the registration process.
Students can pay the fee via online credit card payment or bank transfer.
If you choose to pay through bank transfer, you will be sent an email containing an invoice with bank account details. Instructions will be provided in the email.
